Develop self-compassion.

Yes, even you.

Have you ever been told that you’re too hard on yourself?

This class is designed to help you identify and nurture the inherent capacity for self-compassion that is within everyone. We’ll describe what self-compassion is, why it is relevant and beneficial in everyday life, and have firsthand experience with practices to help cultivate self-compassion.

Each meeting will have time for instruction, practice, and answering questions.

The effort toward healing how you relate with food and body is nothing short of heroic. There are two key tools to keep at the ready when walking through the fire: Mindfulness and Self-Compassion. They are like Wonder Woman’s arm bands *in the sense that they can create a large forcefield to deflect attacks (even those from within ourselves…).

The research on how both mindfulness and self-compassion can help protect or improve body image and eating difficulties is growing and impressive, but I don’t need that to know they help. I’ve seen it for myself and my clients.

It is helpful (but not necessary) to take the 6-week Intro to Mindfulness course first.

Who is this class for?

Anyone who is interested in learning more about self-compassion, whether you have tried it out before or not. This class is also appropriate if you do not have difficult food or body issues, although many examples and/or discussion might be related to these topics. It is recommended that you take the Introduction to Mindfulness class first.
